Introduction to Social Value

NOTE: Since this webinar was recorded in June 2022, there has been a change in Northern Ireland’s procurement of Social Value. Service contracts valued above £123,000 and construction contracts valued above £4.7million must include a minimum of 10% of total award criteria to social value, which accounts for approximately 97% of total government procurement spend.  The minimum weighting will increase to 20% from June 2023 subject to review and approval by the Executive. (Northern Ireland Executive)

This is a pre-recorded webinar which provides an introduction to the UK Government Social Value methodology.  It is 52 minutes long and gives an overview to the following areas:

• Social Value legislation across the UK – what this is, where it came from and how it differs in application across the Union.
• Procurement Policy Notes – commissioners in scope of legislation, and those out of scope (and why they might be doing it anyway).
• The Social Value Model – the methodology being used to procure for social value
• Indicators – what these are and how to use them

It’s a light touch introduction, and uses practical examples to support understanding.
